February 2009
Dear Reader,
Imagine
being at the biggest horse show of your life.
You’re
leaning against your horse’s neck. His mane is gently soaking
the sweat off your brow.
You’re
thinking about the blue ribbon you won in the last show you
entered. Will
you add another one to your collection today? You’re looking around and
see some of the area’s greatest riders with their beautiful
horses competing in the rings…jumping 3 foot, 4 foot, 5 foot
jumps…soaring over them as if they’re
flying.
Your
heart is racing…you’re next.
The
announcer calls your number.
Reins in
hand, you walk your steed to ring entrance. You mount, and wait for
the judges’ signal as the energy builds inside
you.
The
signal is given and the ride begins. You pick up a canter,
start the pattern.
Over the
first jump…then the second. You and your horse are
performing like never before. You know it’s good…you can
feel it. You
did it!
Is it
good enough for that blue ribbon? You’re about to find
out…
We Desperately Need Your Help To
Keep Competition Alive
We at
the Horse Park of New Jersey understand how thrilling it is
to compete, but without assistance from passionate people
like you, we will be unable to continue providing programs
and competitions for dedicated
equestrians.
The task is
too large.
That’s
why I’m asking for your much-needed support
today.
With your gift we can continue to provide an outstanding
facility and contribute to the area’s rich and long standing
equine community.

From Farmland And Forests To A
Working Equestrian
Facility
The Horse Park of New Jersey was born of a vision held by a
dedicated group of equestrian enthusiasts. The land was initially
purchased by the New Jersey Department of Environmental
Protection using Green Acres funds.
In
1987--with coordination among state government, private
not-for-profit efforts and countless volunteers--the
Horse Park of New Jersey was opened. Today, the Horse
Park has grown to its present state of 185 acres. It is
considered a premier venue that attracts equestrians of
every discipline and countless fervent
spectators.
Developing Riders From Pony Clubs To
Olympic
Contenders
Since its first show
of international interest—the National Hunter Pony Finals in
1994—the Horse Park has become an increasingly important
location for competitions.
One of the largest
and most prestigious of these competitions is the Jersey
Fresh Three-Day Event. Jersey Fresh is
internationally recognized for FEI (Federation Equestre
Internationale) and CCI (Concours Complet International)
level competitions. David O’Connor, Olympic
rider and President of the United States Equestrian
Foundation states:
“Jersey Fresh has been the preeminent event for our up
and coming riders and horses to
prepare not only for their own career but the USEF’s high
performance teams. Good footing, good
courses, and a hospitable event management have led to this
event being a cornerstone of the high performance eventing
calendar. All
of us involved in the high performance eventing scene owe a
debt of gratitude to the Jersey Horse Park as one of our
North American destinations for our international
goals.”
Riders
who have competed at the Horse Park have gone
onto:
-
The 2004 US Olympic Team in Athens
Greece
-
The 2007 Pan American Games in
Brazil
-
The 2008 US Olympic Team in Beijing,
China
In 2009, the
Horse Park of New Jersey will also play host to many other
exciting events including:
This
represents a total of over 48 events over the next 52
weekends!

Will The Horse Park Be Able To
Secure The Funds To Make These Events
Happen?
The
answer to that question largely depends on good people like
you.
Hosting
future shows and competitions comes with a considerable
price tag.
Without funding the ability of the Horse Park to sustain
these competitions faces immediate
danger.
Without
generous donations from people like you, events such as
these will have to be cancelled and with them the hopes and
dreams of many talented riders.
Join
us in our mission to continue providing premier equestrian
events throughout 2009 by sending a generous gift
today.
Simply complete the
enclosed reply form and mail it in the self-addressed envelope
that we provided for your convenience. All donations are 100% tax
deductible.
You have
my personal thanks (as well as those of the future champions
of the Horse Park of New Jersey) for your most thoughtful
consideration of our needs.
Sincerely,
Nancy Hutcheson
President
P.S. Your generosity will help
keep the Horse Park of New Jersey functioning so it can
continue to inspire and create future Gold Medal
Equestrians.
And don’t forget, your donation is 100% tax
deductible.
